Green projector set

After talking about this set we needed to come together to figure out what exactly we wanted to projects and if these images were going to be still or moving. We would be working with a Conner set and therefore would need the images to be projected on both sides of the walls. The image would be projected through the back of the gel walls and would be presented through Qlab on a single projector. This method would work for both still and moving images. WE realised we would also have to play around on the day, altering the distance behind the gel screens to make it practical. 

Chairs and lamp set

for this set we would have wash lights and would easily be able to alter the colour on the day to fit best with the rest of the sets colours. We talked about hoe we could project the window onto one of the walls instead of having a real window as it would allow it to tie into the previous set. We further would want to angle the light to allow a fall off at the back of the set. This along with angling our walls coming inwards instead of square would help create this idea of depth within the shot and help the spotlight be primarily on the singer.

Ladder & spray paint set

For this set we initially had the idea of putting LED lights on the backside of the ladder, being hidden from view but also lighting up the spray painted wall behind. However, during this talk we had the idea of using a single sodium light to light the set in order to create this street lamp atmosphere. This would also work well with the outdoor impression of the set, helping link the urban, outdoor vibe of the spray paint with a rustic street lighting.

For the group, I edited the prototype video along with taking many of the shot. For the shots, we wanted to try make them as close as we could to how we want our real music video to be presented in order to portray our full idea. We made use of the school, going to the different locations that Carl found around the school that fitted with our idea. We further used Frosts and Florescent lights to extend this 'professional' look, giving a variation of lighting throughout the shots. This tied in with our outfit choices that we put Kiera in, all portraying this London fashion persona.

 

For editing the video I made sure to try space out the different shots as evenly as I could to ensure the same set wouldn't appear consecutively. 

I started with editing the initial shots we took who did not involve our actual actress as she was not available. As we filmed more, now with Kiera, I slowly added more shots and used them instead of the original girl. This made me realise that out choice of actor is very successful and works very well with our video.

more digipak design inspiration

After looking at the digipak's that were the same genre as our song I also wanted to fins some inspiration that wasn't necessarily the same genre but what interested me visually. Both of these digipak's inspired me through not only the style of art but also the colour and the way each page worked together in unity.  The style of the first one is slightly more simplistic yet has an emended amount of detail. I feel the art is eye catching, interesting yet also clear and gives the buyer a suggestion of where the music is based i.e. its culture or maybe where the artist if from, giving it a personal view on the artist. 

I felt this approach to our Digipak could work well with the basics of our video primarily reflecting London and London fashion. With London being a very well known City this could also help draw in buyers who have a liking to this area and feel a sense of similarity to the music. 

This second digipak caught my attention by the use of expressive and bright colour. It uses a range of eygrabbing colours yet manages to make them work together nicely and link throughout the digipak.

I felt the colour aspect of this digital could be incorporated into our own due to our music video reflecting this same bright and cheerful energy, with a lot of colour being on display. It would add interest to the digipak and maybe influence the buyer to look into the different elements of the media such as the music video.

 

Digipak Inspiration

When looking to create our own digipack, we needed to take inspiration and therefore started with looking into the same genre of music to see the style to which their digipak's were. We analysed the ones that had been collected and discussed the similarities between them all. We came to the conclusion that they all had a very simplistic vibe, mostly using one neutral colour as the base backdrops. All the front covers included a photo of the artist, whom were all female, giving the impression that it is the 'pretty woman' they are selling rather than trying to reflect the music though the image. Moreover, some of these images reflected the women in a natural way with natural, light makeup and presented nude. With regards to the writing, a lot of the packs used a personal font that appeared to look hand-written, giving off a delicate atmosphere. 

When thinking about creating our own Digipak, we would maybe like to include an image of Kiera to show off the artist, enticing buyers to purchase it. However, I feel that the creativity is lost in many of these packs and therefore would like to bring some in, through reflecting the music and artists personality more through the imagery.

Set locations around school

To figure out where we wanted to film our prototype, I first sketched a room in school that I new would work really well and then we went on to taking photos of more locations that would work well and like to our set ideas the closest.
